The Lean Employer Content Guide - cover
The shift

"We're under pressure to do a lot with limited time, budget and resources."

It's the soundtrack of every TA and employer brand leader I've spoken to. The competition for attention is brutal. The expectation on output has gone up. The team has not. And most of the playbooks for this work are written by agencies, for agencies, with budgets to match.

This is the practitioner version. Built from 20+ years across recruitment marketing, integrated marketing, employer branding and content marketing. Built from running my own solo business since 2019. And from 155+ conversations on the Employer Content Marketing podcast.

What's inside

Three Foundations. A three-stage Content Cycle. One framework.

Six anchor points that turn ad-hoc content effort into a real strategic function.

01
Mindset & Space
The time, headspace and environment great content needs.
02
Strategy
Audience-first thinking, with or without a formal EVP.
03
Studio
The tools, kit and workflows to produce at the speed of life.
↓ The Content Cycle runs inside the Foundations ↓
04
Create
Capture employee voices. Turn culture into content.
05
Distribute
Get it where future talent is already looking.
06
Learn
Read the signals. Decide what to scale next.

Every chapter ends with:

A short summary. Five take-action items you can run with this week.

What readers are saying

Early reviews.

"Practical, honest, and clearly written from lived experience rather than theory. The lean philosophy applied to employer content is long overdue - and the production stack section alone is worth the read for most in-house teams."

Andy Lambert Entrepreneur, exited founder, ex-Adobe, and author of Spheres of Influence

"The Lean Employer Content Guide cuts through the noise and focuses on what actually matters: creating content that attracts the right people, builds trust, and supports hiring goals without unnecessary complexity. A practical resource for employers who want to communicate more effectively."

Chris Le'cand-Harwood

20+ years across recruitment marketing, integrated marketing, employer branding and content marketing. I started agency-side, became one of the early adopters of social media in the employer marketing world, and founded Content Marketing Pod Ltd in 2019.

I host the Employer Content Marketing podcast - 155+ episodes, 150+ guests. I've won 11 industry awards for the work with partners and clients since 2020. And I've produced over 1,500 content assets running this approach every working day.

This guide is the framework I've used to take in-house teams from a single mobile-shot employee video all the way through to a full documentary - without the blockbuster film budget.

Questions

Things you might be wondering.

What's in the book?
A nearly-100-page printed guide covering the full Lean Content Framework - three Foundations and a three-stage Content Cycle, plus the bonus material (the 4-Week Sprint Toolkit and the Content Cycle Canvas). Built-in notes pages so you can capture your thinking as you read.
How long does it take to read?
About an hour end-to-end. Each chapter ends with five take-action items you can run with that same week. The notes pages mean you can come back to it over time as a working reference.
Who is it for?
In-house teams in employer branding, talent acquisition and people comms. The solo artists and small bands - people whose role includes content but who don't have a dedicated content team behind them. Teams at any stage.
How long does it take to arrive?
UK orders dispatch within 5 working days of purchase. Royal Mail tracked delivery is included in the £35 price.
Why UK only at launch?
Version 1.0 is a small, manually-fulfilled run - 30 copies in the first batch. International shipping from the UK is expensive and slow, so I'd rather wait until I've moved to print-on-demand later in 2026, which lets me ship from a US partner for US buyers. If you're outside the UK and want a copy now, email me and we'll work it out.
Will there be a new edition?
Yes. Version 1.0 is the June 2026 edition. Version 2.0 will follow in June 2027 with updates from another year of conversations, client work and reader feedback. Each edition is a complete, deliberate piece of work.
What's the free Sprint Kick-Off Call?
A small-group session I run once enough new readers have joined the cohort. We work through how to set up your first 4-Week Content Cycle sprint, tackle any questions from the guide, and make sure you start off on the right foot. You don't need to do anything to register - I'll be in touch with details once your cohort is ready.
Can I expense it?
Yes. Most companies have a learning and development budget. The receipt you get after purchase works as a proper invoice - drop it into your usual expenses process.
Refunds?
If the book isn't what you expected, email me within 14 days and return it (postage on me). I'll refund the £35 in full. No drama.
